The Letter M “Letters 4 Women” (Album Review)
The Eastside General is back for the ladies. M has never shied away from punching in when he graces a beat. On the other side of the spectrum, he’s always never shied away from showing appreciation to the women in his life and his music is no different. The Letter M’s latest album release, Letters for Women, is exactly what it says it is. A love letter for (black) women. Atlanta producer duo Track Team assists M with creating this 10-track love letter with features from artists Sho., Reno Basquiat and NIKO.
When asked on what inspired this tape, he accounts:
“I wanted to create a vibe through an emotional roller coaster of my love life. I actually see this as an extension of my 2024 Taylor Port Tears album. Navigating life and love after grieving heartbreaks and heart aches either caused by me or caused by someone else. Also, through learning from my mistakes or from how I was treated I wrote songs for the different experiences I’ve had with women and made letters to them or for them. Overall, I feel if you a black woman, you’ll find a song you love if not the entire album. Black Women Are Important. Black women are the reason the world glows and grows…without the black woman we have NOTHING.”
Now let’s give a breakdown of the standout tracks in Letters to Women:
Ready 4 Me -. M starts off the project with showcasing his vocal range on this sexy drill song perfect for the lovers at the function. Dirty Mackin - It’s not an unusual experience for a woman to have to hold down her own while a man is blatantly playing in her face. M shares that this is his personal favorite of the project because he challenged himself to take on the mindset of a woman to channel the desires of the feminine mind. Definitely something for the ladies to relate and sing along too.” Wait - Radio-friendly track of love and reconciliation. Addict - My personal favorite on the album, heavy bass production and perfect for the club. Altar - A perfect ending for this album, after all of the relationship trials and tribulations, “meet him at the altar”.
