New Music Spotlight: R&B Edition XII

Welcome back to The Daily Note’s weekly “New Music Spotlight”— where we talk about music your ears should be on, by artists to keep your eyes on.

During this week's “New Music Spotlight,” we hear what love, yearning, and infatuation can inspire from emerging R&B artists.

First Pick: “Break Me Off” by AMARIA BB is an intoxicatingly seductive record. The simplistic production accentuates the playful flirtation heard in the lyrics. The rising R&B singer delves into a sultry musical pocket inspired by passion and a muse.

Second Pick: “Figure It Out” by ROME & Prod. Dior brings yearning to the forefront. From the lyrics to ROME’s aching inflection—the desire for a lover's participation is felt. A feeling of longing lingers in the lyrics “I know you ain’t used to being in love / So I’ll be your teacher for good / I’ll show you what love is supposed to be babe.” This track tugs at your heartstrings while offering comfort as a chaser.

Third Pick: “Right There” by Quanie feels like a reassuring love note to an eager lover. Through gentle velvety vocals, the singer provides certainty that even with passing time and distance, there is no love lost between the lovers. This record is intimate and closes on a warm note with the words “You know I’ll always be right there.”
