Daily Ambition Vol. 2 (Event Recap)
Can I get a YERRRRRRR?
If you’ve been to a TDN event hosted by Cøøgi, then that phrase goes without saying. Sunday, April 13, 2025, The Daily Note and Club Ambition teamed up for the second installment of Daily Ambition; a thoughtfully curated Hip-Hop experience highlighting the talent in the local music scene.
Doors were at 7 PM, sounds provided by “KEEM!” to set the tone while attendees got settled in. Understanding your audience is major and “KEEM!” knew exactly how to tailor his set. We heard everything from Watch the Throne cuts, to iconic Kendrick Lamar records both past and present, if you know, you know tracks like “Lay With Ya” by Isaiah Rashad & Duke Deuce, “Polynesian” by Smino, or “$500 Ounces” by Westside Gunn featuring Freddie Gibbs & Roc Marciano (a personal favorite), classics like The Game & 50 Cent’s “Hate It Or Love It”, to melodic crowd pleasers courtesy of Don Toliver, and even nods to the newer school with some plays from Lil Tecca and Eem Triplin. Closing the show with Drake’s 2010 hit “Over” couldn’t have been a more fitting ending in that moment.
A-Fue was the first artist to grace the stage that night. A Providence native of Guatemalan descent, he represented his culture proudly with a custom jersey that read Guatemala on the front and his name on the back. A-Fue’s set was a fusion of Hip-Hop and his latin roots. Starting with English and ending in Spanish, he had the entire crowd dialed in, some even singing along with ease. He interacted with the crowd like he had done this a million times before. Encouraging us to chant his name along with him to the tune of: “when I say A, you say Fue”, and we did just that. A-Fue’s high energy performance was just what we needed to get the night started.
Up next, Kunle. Kunle is the type of artist to turn you into a believer. His confidence shined through in not only his lyrics but how he delivered them. The production was one of the most memorable moments of the night for me. I vividly remember a beat switch on the very first record he performed that had me T’d ALL the way up. Not just me though, the entire crowd was cheering him on. He met our excitement by throwing merch out into the crowd while he shared the stage with a fellow member of his collective “OTR”, who were also in the building supporting heavy that night. While he closed out his set with a more personal record, the whole thing felt like hit after hit.
The next addition to the stage may have been a last minute write in, but in no way was it of any lesser quality than what we had been experiencing so far. Israel Wusu took to the stage where he performed one solo record and one song alongside collaborator, Eofficial— all it took was their few minutes on stage together to sense this was a real brotherhood.
The talent became immediately clear but what also stood out is how genuine and authentic it felt. Despite having a shorter and unplanned set, it left you wanting more. Definitely be on the look out for Israel Wusu’s name on a future Daily Ambition line up.
And last on the original line up, but FAR from least, was Chach. If you’re a true fan of Rap, this was for you. A rapper’s rapper, a student of the game, a passion for the art form, all of that bled through his performance. Lyrically potent, sharp flows, assuredness in his delivery. He rapped his entire set with no back track and even a cappella at one point. Leaving plenty of room for error, but there wasn’t any. Chach commanded the stage with a performance that was captivating from start to finish. He’s opened the stage for legends like The Lox, Pusha T, and Rakim, and as he closed The Daily Ambition stage that night, it was clear why.
Cøøgi and Sound had one last surprise in store before we could officially call the night over. $wifty, known for his sexy drill style of music, performed fan favorite record “Make Love” as the crowd sang along in unison to send us off proper.
Community is everything. Shows like this are reminders of that and that’s why they’re so important. We packed out TROOP PVD on a Sunday night— that’s community in its purest form. There were unforeseen circumstances that came up preventing two of the planned artists on the line up from performing. Two artists were able to step in and keep the show rocking because they were in attendance. Artists pulling up to support artists. Daily Ambition is a Hip Hop experience that brings out talent and community and Volume 2 was a testament to that.
