6 Years Since Drake & Future released WATTBA

It’s been 6 years since Drake and Future dropped off a classic tape together. Filled with a bunch of punchlines that would be instagram captions for the coming years and melodic flows that went perfect over Metro Boomin’s beats to perfection. With a title beyond fitting for its time “What A Time To Be Alive” surely never disappointed. Looking back on it both Artist’s are still very much thriving in today’s world but this tape dropping at the peak of both of their runs when they came together. Future coming hot off his summer release of “DS2” at the time and Drake coming off the release of “If Your Reading This It’s Too Late” earlier that year.

It’s almost like the stars aligned perfectly for making this tape. This tape’s inception came when Drake & Future collaborated for what was originally just supposed to be a single in “Digital Dash” but then it becomes a full length tape in just six short days is truly incredible. This tape had exactly what you wanted from a rap mixtape with hype songs like “Big Rings” and “Jumpman”, club bangers like “Digital Dash” and “Jersey”, even deep cuts like “Scholarships” and “30 for 30 Freestyle”. This tape had the world on smash… Drake and Future delivered on a timeless masterpiece. If I had to rate this tape I’m truly giving it a 10/10 because on all facets they delivered the beats, the lyricism, the catchy flows just all of it. This is honestly one of the only times you’ll ever see me give an album or tape a 10/10. Will the two rap superstars ever collaborate again for another full length tape? It seems like there have been rumblings of it in recent years but only time will tell.
