Sample Saturday: A$AP Rocky ft Brent Faiyaz - STAY HERE 4 LIFE

Welcome back to Sample Saturday! Where we discuss the samples used in some of your favorite songs. This week we will be talking about the sample used in A$AP Rocky's song "STAY HERE 4 LIFE" featuring Brent Faiyaz off his 2026 album "Don't Be Dumb."

"STAY HERE 4 LIFE," is A$AP Rocky telling his lover to stay in this deep moment with him forever. Recalling memories of dodging paparazzi, intimate Facetime calls, and star gazing, Rocky makes it clear that when he is with his lover, all time seems to stop making him want to stay in this moment forever.

"STAY HERE 4 LIFE," samples Brent Faiyaz's song "Full Moon (Fall in Tokyo)," from his delayed album "ICON." Though the album was said to be released in 2025, there have been several delays and push-back dates.

However, even though the album has not been released, 3 singles have been released since the multiple announcements of the album's delays. Those singles include, "Tony Soprano / Peter Pan," "Have To," and "Full Moon (Fall in Tokyo)."

A team of producers consisting of A$AP Rocky himself, Brent Faiyaz, Hit-Boy, Loukeman, Rance & Thundercat, took Faiyaz's vocals from "Full Moon (Fall in Tokyo)" and the original melody from the sample letting the rhythm continuing to be the baseline of the song.

Layered with Rocky's adlibs and vocal echos between the ears of the listener, the drums change what was originally an R&B song to an upbeat rap song, transforming the dynamic of the track completely.
