New Music Spotlight: R&B Edition XV

Welcome back to The Daily Note’s weekly “New Music Spotlight”— where we talk about music your ears should be on, by artists to keep your eyes on. Let's get into this week's top three new picks.

First Pick: “Holding Back” by Ama is a captivating and sexy track that brings the summer heat. On this record, the sultry songstress is reciprocating the flirtatious energy of a potential lover as she sings “So baby, why you holding back? / When a little birdie told me you want more than that.” This is the London-based singer’s third single from her anticipated self-titled album “Ama,” set to be released June 19.

Second Pick: “Match” by Breyan Bliss is a song that sounds like R&B ear candy. Made up of smooth melodies and bouncing production, this record is lively and sexy. The song includes an R&B easter egg, as the singer melodically incorporates an interpolation of Chris Brown’s classic “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” in the opening verse. This is track 4 from the artist’s 8-song project “Crush,” which was recently released on June 1.

Third Pick: “Hot” by Genia inspires hot girl energy as she sings lyrics that incite brazen confidence. This song feels playful yet powerful as the rising R&B songstress recites the affirmation “I’m hot than a mf.” This is a fun high-energy track that gives off main character energy.
