Spaceluvrrr (Artists To Watch)
This week’s Artist to Watch highlight goes to the talented @spaceluvrrr. A singer and songwriter native to Atlanta, Georgia. Though she prefers to keep her full identity under wraps, you will be instantly transported into her world when you press play on any one of her records.
I discovered spaceluvrrr through a combination of TDN’s own Louie sourcing a record of hers for our new music release drops, then seeing her name again pop up on my “Recommended for Today” on Spotify. I went ahead and listened to it and immediately found myself going through her entire catalog. Song by song, EP by EP, I continued to be impressed by what I was hearing. There were no misses.
Spaceluvrrr’s lush vocals over dreamy production serve as the most inviting welcome to the listener into the world of sounds she has built up through her discography thus far. Vulnerability remains at the forefront of her subject matter as she sings about heartbreak and the overall twists & turns of navigating relationships. The relatability in her songwriting mixed with the intoxicating tone of her voice makes for the perfect recipes for the yearners, the lovers. Some of my favorite examples are on songs such as: “NOBODY”, “your mix” and “Forever Mine.”
Though we’re used to associating an artist’s brand to their face and what they look like, spaceluvrrr stated that: “…I connect with what’s around me like my environment, my friends, my family and I like to show that in what I do.” A lot of her cover art features the outdoors, landscapes and things in nature which is honestly so fitting because listening to her music feels like the soundtrack to a lot of these visuals. It’s special when you can listen to music and feel like it’s sonically taking you on a journey somewhere else— spaceluvrrr’s music does that.
With only a year’s worth of music out in the universe on wax and being a recent high school graduate, things can only elevate for this young talent. Identity revealed or not, spaceluvrrr is a testament to the fact that good music transcends all.
