Aminè ft. Smino- Passenger Princess (Single)

Portland meets St. Louis on “Passenger Princess” as Aminé enlists Smino for his first official release of 2024. Stylistically, this is a duo that makes so much sense, it’s surprising that it’s their first crossover. They both thrive in the category of clever and witty bars and over this soulful production, they do just that.

You can always count on Aminé, especially for wit and fun in his raps. Just refer to bars like “We f*** to the SZA, she love when it’s in her, she not gunna snooze”, for example. Then the thing about Smino, is he never wastes a word. Even if you don’t catch it right away, know that every line is representative of something: “This Issey ain’t no question, so I’m calling it any Miyake”, a bar only Smino is truly capable of.

This single comes equipped with a music video powered by Lyrical Lemonade. We get rooftop views of the two rappers dressed in threads synonymous to their artistry: vibrant. Aminé is donned in a lime green hoodie with shorts to complement it, while sporting the blue and orange BTEE740, his second and upcoming collaboration with New Balance that is set to drop in just a couple of days. Smino is dressed in all yellow accompanied by red accessories: including a bandana that sits under his STL fitted hat and some Chanel shades. But of course, no Smino fit would be complete without his 314 chain.

There’s a part in the beginning of the song that closely mirrors that of Bow Wow’s “Let Me Hold You”. Aminé and Smino pay homage to that by doing the iconic hug dance that Bow Wow and Omarion did in their original music video. It was a very feel good and nostalgic addition to an already pleasing song and visual.

This collaboration either instantly made sense the moment you heard about it, or instantly made sense as soon as you listened. This is surely a duo we could use more of and I will undoubtedly be seated when and if they decide to bless us again.
