Coming From The Heart: Velcroes’ Ex Flamma

“Way that I dive right in, change my name to Velcro Phelps”

  • KUMBAYA

An emerging all-star of Atlanta’s ONMI (Onto My Next Idea) collective, Velcroes has been on necks throughout the past year. Major contributions to the OMNI, Vol. 1 tape, consistent drop of singles and a rock out performance with One Music Fest. All of this led to the delivery of a stand out project on February 5th with the release of EX FLAMMA. A nine-track tape that encapsulates a versatile range but maintaining vocal and sonic quality is a testament to building a project from the inner layers to what us listeners can enjoy now. He was given rave reviews from artists including Jay Activist, Kenarri and fellow OMNI mates S.U.R.F., New Von Moon and Chris Van Gogh.

Starting off the tape with FIFTH BEAN gives a positive foreshadowing that the fluid energy that each track uniquely possesses. BLACK displays Velcroes’ wordplay skills, while COLD SHOULDER and GOODBYE feel very melodic and introspective, taking a pass through his mind. Above all, STILL ALIVE INTERLUDE is the stand out track on this tape. Feeling like a spacy lullaby for past requited love, Velcroes and singer Naini deliver a tasteful duet that doesn’t even feel like an interlude.

He has released several visuals accompanying the tape, including OG GLOVE, WHO BROUGHT ME IN HERE and KUMBAYA which was included in the TDN Class of 2024 List. The OMNI collective is homologous with delivering music videos that embraces scenery and setting, plays well color grading and angles and symbolizes a creative brotherhood. Can’t wait to see what Velcroes and the gang have cooking up next. Watch the EX FLAMMA visuals here and tap into Velcroes on all major streaming platforms.
