Sample Saturday: Zelooperz - Describe

Welcome back to Sample Saturday ! This is our weekly series where we discuss samples used in your favorite songs. This week we will be discussing the sample used in Zelooperz's "Describe" of his 2025 album "Dali Ain't Dead."

In the song "Describe," Zelooperz tries to describe this feeling he has towards a potential love interest, but not being able to find the right words. Using his lyrics, he illustrates the warm feeling of home this person brings him.

"Describe" samples the song, "U Send Me Swingin’" by Mint Condition from their 1993 album "From The Mint Factory". The self produced project, along with help from Perspective Records’ founders Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, peaked at No. 104 on the Billboard 200 and No. 18 on the Top R&B Charts.

Producers on "Describe" Dilip & Mathius Young take the last 66 seconds of "U Send Me Swingin’" and begin to loop the melody & keeping the lyrics, "Come my way/ I'll swing/ you, I'll swing you/ My way."

Keeping true to the original melody and adding a couple elements such as snares, hi hats, and a higher key, it takes the song from 90s R&B love song to an expressive rap serenade for your future partner.
