Sample Saturday: Baby Keem - No Security
Welcome back to Sample Saturday! Where we discuss samples from some of your favorite songs. This week we will be talking about the sample used in Baby Keem's song "No Security" off his 2026 album "Ca$ino."
In "No Security," Keem lays his vulnerability on the track about life stressors when it comes to family and transitioning into the lifestyle of success. Even though he left a life of living in survival mode, new stressors still continue to enter his day-to-day life while he finds ways to cope with them by retreating to his "laboratory" and continuing to create.
The track samples the song "You Can Have Me" by Natalie Bergman from her 2025 album "My Home Is Not in This World." The album being about Bergman wanting to disconnect digitally from the world and create an antithesis of modern music (quote from "You Can Have Me") creates a lullaby essence with a 60’s dreamlike feel.
Baby Keem and producers Danja, FNZ, & Scott Bridgeway, take the gentle song and flip it on its head. By deepening the vocals and slowing them down while maintaining the melody, it sets the scene while Baby Keem peels back a layer of himself allowing him to put his guard down and truly say what's on his mind.
