Lil Baby & Lil Durk - Voice Of The Heroes (Album)
Here it finally is. A collab album from the two hottest MC’s in the game. Since the start of this year, these two have been inescapable. Lil Baby has been recapturing the magic of 2008 Lil Wayne with his feature run, and Lil Durk has been riding high since the release of his The Voice album (and it’s deluxe) at the tail end of 2020. These are leaders of the new pain music movement where the autotune really becomes a musical instrument that accents the hood tales these gentleman tell. Let’s take a moment to appreciate just how far these two have come. It’s been almost a decade since Lil Durk first popped up on the scene as one of the frontrunners of Chiraq’s drill scene. Meanwhile Lil Baby has been around for less than half of that, but his improvement as an MC in the past year or two is nothing short of remarkable. It becomes apparent off the title track that the record maybe should’ve been called “The Voice & The Hero” instead. But the final title is also a bit fitting. They speak for the heroes of our culture: those who give our youth hope. There is another way besides jail and the graveyard. These two really take all of the pain life throws at them and put it into their music. I could go on and on about how much appreciate what these cats are doing for our culture, but just listen to the record for yourself. Check out the album above.
