New Music Spotlight: R&B Edition XVII

Welcome back to The Daily Note’s weekly “New Music Spotlight”—where we talk about music your ears should be on, by artists to keep your eyes on. Let's get into this week's top three new picks.

First Pick: “Sweet Thang” by Arin Ray feels like a sultry and soulful jam session. This track radiates warm melodies as the rising R&B singer delivers a smooth, sexy, and cool performance. Should listeners want a more stripped back version of the record, there is also an acoustic version readily available on the singer’s youtube channel. “Sweet Thang” is a satisfying glimpse of the singer's anticipated EP “LIMBO releasing August 11th.

Second Pick: “kiss in public” by LARIICA & Isaiah Kaleo is reminiscent of a passionate encounter with your crush. This track documents the high that comes from experiencing desire, a little flirtation, and a bit of intimacy. The collaborative duo complements each other’s sound seamlessly on this record. This song is perfect for your late-night R&B rotation.

Third Pick: “Eyes” by Dom Sarfo is an honest record about what happens when a person you fell for doesn’t align with the expectations you had of them— and the potential of what could’ve been fizzles out. However, on this track the emerging R&B artist still has a hard time letting his lover go as he sings “I think I’d rather die than see you with another guy.” As vulnerable as this track is, it is just as groove-worthy as it dips into a dark R&B tone. This record is an exceptional listen from Dom Sarfo’s recent 4-song EP “HALO,” which was released June 23.
