Kanye West - Donda (Album)
Kanye West. Introduction unnecessary. I wasn’t even sure if he was actually about to drop this. He’s had a very hard time sticking to release dates these past couple of years. Then I saw his instagram posts. And then I saw Def Jam confirm the release date. Then that original confirmed release date came and went. Then we got a new one. It’s always a roller coaster with Kanye but sure enough here it is, an album named after his late mother releasing among rumors of a divorce. Let’s not forget this is the same man that ran for president last year and dropped a grammy winning gospel album the year before. But what always interests me most about Kanye albums is the sonic direction. More than maybe any other artist in hip-hop history, Kanye has repeatedly reinvented his own sonic palette and production style with pretty much every release. And we’ve already heard incredible (albeit unfinished) features from Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, and more. JAY Z even pops up for a reunion of The Throne. Let’s see where Mr. West is taking us this time with the finished product. Rest In Peace to Donda West. Check out Donda above.
