Jean Deaux “nowhere, fast” Tour Recap

On Monday, June 17th, I was invited by TDN’s Tess to catch Chicago’s own Jean Deaux as she debuted her “nowhere, fast” tour in Midtown Atlanta’s Vinyl. Though this is her first solo tour, I have to give her flowers for already mastering an intimate R&B concert experience.

Jean invited Champagne Trap from Atlanta’s Player99 as guest DJ and Payton Moore as the show’s opening artist of the night. Performing all of her biggest tracks from her newest tape include Roll With Me and Thinkin’ and even some of fan faves including Anytime and Zodiac Killer. As a surprise, Jean brought out New Orleans’ Ambre to lay some vocals for the crowd. I was able to catch a photo with her, bringing together a full circle moment for an artist that’s been on my radar since the 3000 tape.

At the end of the show, Jean revealed that she would give us attendees a free meet and greet at the end of the night. We were able to take photos and she was pleased to thank us for supporting her music. More intimate concerts should become a trend in the music circuit. Giving fans a taste of her Westside Chi flare, Jean Deaux brought vocality and personality straight to the stage. My rating is a 10/10 and will definitely be attending her next show when she returns to Atlanta.
