Jae Skeese - Testament of the Times (Album)

The art of rap lies within an artist’s ability to creatively paint a picture solely using words. Therein lies the uniqueness in Jae Skeese’s new album.

Just when it seemed that underground rap couldn’t get any better, Jae collaborates with German-producer Superior to deliver one of the most vulnerable, compelling albums of 2024 so far— “Testament of the Times”. In "Testament of the Times", Jae Skeese opens up his world to listeners, offering unfiltered honesty to reflect on his past, his grind, and his prosperity. He not only shares his own personal reflections, but also challenges listeners to think deeply and reflect on life through the use of quotes from figures like Nipsey Hussle on “Union 2’s” and Will Smith on “Mothers & Gods”. He displays a dominant and effortless wordplay skill, incorporating many references to basketball and HBO’s popular series, “The Wire”. Most importantly, Jae’s storytelling on “Testament of the Times” is filled with no regrets and is genuine, showcasing his acceptance of past experiences and anticipation for the rewards that lie ahead.

As for Superior, his contributions to this album cannot be overlooked as his production shined throughout “Testament of the Times” and added depth to each track. From the electric guitar rock vibes on tracks like “Union 2’s” to the heavenly vibes on tracks like “Skyscraper”, Superior’s production provided the perfect canvas for Jae’s lyricism to naturally stroke across.

“Testament of the Times” is a journey from start to finish, filled with introspection and growth from every angle.
