Guyclaude Serenades From The Heart With “Only For You”

In a world where dating can feel superficial, transactional and pointless at times, this song feels like a silver lining. Slow strums of the guitar soon followed by Guyclaude’s serene vocals open up the track, comparable to twisting open the blinds on your living room window to let the sunlight in. Warmth on your skin to remind you that you’re still capable of feeling— “only for you” is the personification of that.

For the times that love feels unattainable, this song’s existence is proof that love is not only still out there, but sought after. “Situationships” and “rosters” are a foreign language here; baby, this is a LOVE song. One that leaves no room for ambiguity in its message, one worth dedicating to someone, one that doesn’t shy away from loving proudly.

The intention behind each lyric is felt with each word Guyclaude sings. Lines like: “Anything you want, it don’t cost anything to me”, “I could mine the mountains, put the diamonds in your hands if you really want”,  and “Take my heart and turn it to your home, my baby” are standout moments that stick with you like caramel to an apple— candy to the ears of those who understand what it means to be a real lover.

As the song goes on, the message becomes more and more evident: his feelings for this woman are fueled by pure adoration and devotion. He needs her in his life and he’s not afraid to say it or show her. The subtle yet impactful delivery of the line “You know I got you like you got me too” boasts reciprocity among the partnership, a key ingredient to a successful love story.

The warm, acoustic feel of the production is a canvas for Guyclaude’s vocal performance and songwriting to join forces and put art on full display; a combination his discography is rich in. Serving as his second official release of the year, “only for you” continues to be a testament that every song Guyclaude puts out is a labor of love.

I was fortunate enough to be able to hear “only for you” early and so I’ve had the chance to really spend time with the record. I’m so excited for the rest of the world to do the same. The way love is spoken about throughout the course of the song is important to be heard, especially from a man’s point of view.

Guyclaude and I will be doing a follow-up interview to dive deeper into this song, love, and the R&B/Alt R&B space, so definitely stay tapped in with TDN, for that.
