Trivia Fact: Schoolboy Q sampled “Look at Wrist” on his fifth studio album Blue Lips album for “Back in Love” featuring Malik Devin.

“If we are speaking on the culture, Atlanta literally has to mention this tape. 2014’s Yung Hot Ebony was a juxtaposition of trap, twerk, and trippy beats that showcased how the South had the the blog/Soundcloud era on tilt. Not only did I love this tape because of the title (obviously), the homegrown Atlanta sound they had was so niche and different than the mainstream Atlanta sound that the masses know. This tape was a staple with the late night college parties and underground music enthusiasts alike. Ethereal, Lord Narf, Po Slim, Archibald Slim, Pyramid Quince, Slug Christ, Stalin Majesty and GAHM helped bring life to Father's hot project. Garnishing one of the biggest hits “Look at Wrist” featuring KEY! and ILoveMakonnen, I consider Father as one of the unsung heroes of what helped create the modern Atlanta sound we consider mainstream now.

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, the Awful Records label that was started by Father celebrated their 10-year anniversary with a packed out concert at Terminal West in Atlanta. We got live performances from ABRA, Key! and Father himself graced the stage to show love to the place that they call home. To bring it home, TDN’s very own Coogi was invited to be host for the special night. TDN always knows how to put on for the city.
