8PAST - New Bedford Artists To Watch, Vol. 3

Hello one and all. Once again, it’s Sky Bento here on the check-in. Big Bento Energy is in full effect.

I’m back once and again, representing for the 8PAST. I love my city man. We’ve got such a thriving music scene. So I figured I’d shine light on some of what the city has been up to lately on the music tip. Pay attention, you might just hear your new favorite joint.

Check these out:

Rocky Rich & Greedy P - Who To Call

The East Coast in general has a very dope take on these Michigan style beats as of late. Rocky & Greedy trade bars over the fat bass and cold piano keys. Rocky started in a duo with his brother Xagi, so it’s dope to see that same chemistry carry over to another artist in Greedy.

Favorite Part: “You Juwanna Mann, he shootin’ in the air just like a b••••”. Quit cold turkey.

Greedy P, Chez, Xagi Yung & Miggy Richez - Southside

Shout out to Tuki on the intro skit. Mans funny as hell. I honestly wasn’t expecting it to kick off a record like this though. This joint got some heavy Juice WRLD vibes to it. Last record I mentioned Rocky’s chemistry with Xagi (who appears here), but Greedy P & Chez are the tag team to beat. They bounce off of each other so well, and set the stage for a killer Xagi verse as well as a solid contribution from Miggy Richez.

Favorite Part: “I was with the stones n••••, f•••••• with that white b••••, I was feeling low, then she perk me up like some tits”. Xagi go stupid.

Xagi Yung & Rocky Rich - Weight Up

Chemistry has been major lately in the city. Rocky Xagi set that precedent so high that recently they’ve been doing more work individually. It’s like when Quavo and Offset started doing they own solo features all over the place. But Xagi really sanpped on this joint, especially with his hook right before Rocky comes in. I was expecting it to come back, then Rocky kept going like the rent due. Rocky even worked in a hook for himself toward the end of his verse. This joint crazy.

Favorite part: 0:00-2:54

Yung Quapo - Lost In My Thoughts

Free Quap. Homie voice just too cold. He really just captures the sound of the city. The pain in his youthful sounding voice goes right to your soul. He sounds way too young to know all of that pain, it makes it come together so authentic. This man a voice for the next generation of youth trapped in the streets and he need to get back out here dropping asap. Glad to see him still dropping joints even while incarcerated.

Favorite Part: “D-Mac did a deuce and came right back. Allegedly for a smack but we gon’ fight that.”

This is an exciting time for the 8PAST, pun intended. With so many prolific artists and hella collaborations going around, it seems like the future of the city’s sound is in good hands.

For more on all of these artists, keep it locked to TDN, forever.
