On The Radar: Van Buren Cypher (Video)

If you don’t know now, you will soon enough. Van Buren Records is a rap collective coming out of Brockton, MA. I think it’s safe to say when people think of Massachusetts, the rap scene isn’t exactly what comes to mind. While that may be true in this moment, I don’t think it will be for long. I can feel the tide turning & the energy shifting.

Some of the most talented people making music right now, are coming out of Massachusetts. The artists here are forcing the consumers attention. One of the truest examples of this is via Van Buren Records’ latest appearance on “On The Radar”. The collective comes together to perform a cypher over a beat produced by one of their own, Ricky Felix. That beat is disgusting & I mean that as a compliment in the highest regard.

Being a 508 baby myself, this thing here means something to me. The cypher features (in order of performance): ET, Luke Bar$, Jiles, Meech BOLD, FELIX! & Invada. Each rapper takes to the mic to showcase their distinct flair. They went 6 for 6. No misses. Getting to witness this was special & I can’t wait to see how Van Buren continues to shake things up in the rap scene. This moment is a win for Brockton. This moment is a win for Massachusetts. This moment is a win for New England.
