Sexyy Red - Get It Sexyy

It’s only March 15, 2024, and we already have a serious “Song of the Summer” contender. Last year, Sexyy Red literally took the summer by storm with her breakout hit “Pound Town” produced by Tay Keith. The duo is back on her latest single “Get It Sexyy” and it looks like they’re here to do a victory lap. 

Sexyy Red is making it known that her ear is second to none when it comes to selecting beats. Her production choices take these records and turn them up an insane amount of notches. Plus, the aura she possesses when she raps, allows for her to still be the focal point without being taken over by the production. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship between the 2. 

In her first verse, there’s some overlap between the lines that she’s rapping and doing some other lines in the background simultaneously, and that’s where the magic lies for me. Her execution of that dynamic had me doing the stank face, naturally. 

There’s already a complimentary dance to accompany the record so that’s when you know you’ve got a hit on your hands. As we continue to inch closer toward the “wearing less, going out more” season, get ready to hear this song everywhere.
