Sometimes we question if we got that dog in us. Michael Aristotle confirms that he does with his newest single “Ready Or Not”. Produced by longtime right-hand producer Wili Hendrixs who flips a classic Fugees sample, Mikey flexes the pen and reminds us he can rap effortlessly. But there’s also some duality with lines like, “When I think I’m great my anxiety say be humble, God throwing me Hail Mary’s and yet I fumble, tryna walk in my purpose the pressure making me stumble”. It’s a great showing from start to finish.

He and directors Jabari Jenkins & Split Image Studios keep the visuals for this song simple and clean like the Kingdom Hearts theme. The framing is elegant throughout and sets up Mikey to have some presence worthy of his bars.

I’m sure there will be more from the Atlanta aficionado sooner than later ‘cus he sounds ready to me.
