Beyoncé - RENAISSANCE (ALBUM REVIEW)

What is up everyone? I hope you all are having a great summer, having fun, staying safe, and drinking water. So lets get into it, the queen Is back. Beyoncé released her new album “Renaissance”, which is the first part of the three part project. Beyoncé has really outdone herself with this one. As we are heading back into feel good music, Renaissance does just that and much more. Beyoncé explored  many different angles with this album such as the genres of funk, gospel, soul, hip-hop, R&B, trap, Afrobeats and gqom as well. Many songs such as “Cuff It”, “Plastic Off The Soda”, “Summer Renaissance”, “Alien Superstar”, “Break My Soul”, & “Church Girl” are listed as highlights by listeners. Renaissance is something that is in a league of its own. I do not consider it a spin-off nor sequel from Bey’s 2016 album “Lemonade”, which is a good thing. Beyoncé has used her platform to address a lot of social injustice within the African American community as well as even display the community within a royal function on her 2020 film “Black Is King”, that serves as a visual project from the Lion King movie soundtrack “The Gift”. However, this is the first time in a long time that Beyoncé seems to be carefree and just wants to have fun. Renaissance definitely does just that and much more. It also displays the superstar’s strengths as an artist, being able to be as sonically Intune with her abilities better than ever before. Beyoncé is at her best, in her bag, and I sincerely appreciate the efforts of wanting us to feel good as well as enjoying the music.

To quote the queen herself, In August 2021, during her cover story for Harper's Bazaar, Beyoncé revealed that she had been working on her seventh studio album for over a year, stating that "with all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible."

As I will be enjoying the album, I can’t help but to wonder what the next two projects will consist of? Whatever it is, I’m sure it will be something enjoyable and exciting.
