Dougie B - Forever On That (Official Video)
New York Drill Rap has been a mainstream sub-genre in Hip-Hop for almost a decade, starting with Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel, and the GS9 crew. Throughout the years the torch has been passed to rappers like Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, and 22Gz. Now, there’s a new crop of young Brooklyn Drill rappers and Dougie B is one of the new leaders in the pack.
He just dropped a new video for his song “Forever On That” where he displays his contagious energy and represents the new era of Bronx Drill Rap. The song is fire, but the video is what really embodies the essence of drill music. While he raps grittily but smooth over the heavy 808s-filled instrumental, the visuals show young black kids dancing and turning up with their friends. even going back to Chief Keef’s earlier videos at the start of his career. Songs like “Love Sosa” and “I Don’t Like”, where there’s no need for big-budget music videos. All you need is a bunch of your friends, a lot of weed and liquor and maybe a few (prop) guns. It shows the wild and raw energy that the subgenre brings into the culture.
This is his first solo release of the year, so we should be expecting more music to come this year. He along with fellow Bronx rappers B-Lovee and Kay Flock (who’s unfortunately locked up right now for a murder charge) is the hot new rapper right now and they all have very promising careers in music.
