“I feel like great music is becoming niche again, like you have to be in the know to know and that's when art is at its peak. The DJs matter more than ever, the producers are sampling new classics, and the people that are impacted by the culture are the ones impacting the culture. I love it.” Some might know him as a music artist. Some might know him as one of the hottest DJs in the city. Let me introduce him to you as A13Mando of Atlanta, GA.
Back in April 2026, A13Mando released his fourth official album SANCTUARY. Including features from Jazzy Tha Rapper, Skoolinc, CR Jay and The Letter M, SANCTAURY is a full bodied album that even his musical inspirations like Andre 3000, James Brown and the producer KNXWLEDGE would be proud of. My personal favorite track on the album is GEEK RACER (feat. THE LETTER M). The jazz undertone colliding with the bass makes this track sensational. Mando’s personal favorite track is SAKURA TREE (M.D.4). “That was the song that let me know that I am back! I personally feel that this is a one-of-one kind of record. Nobody but myself would have made this. It's real, it's raw, it's catchy, it's the cherry blossom on top of the whole project.” Since the initial release, there has been nothing but expressions of love for the project from both fans and strangers alike. “The reception has been amazing honestly. I've yet to catch any real complaints so it makes me excited to push it to wider audiences.”
I asked how did such a spiritually tuned body of work come into fruition and his answer proves that inspiration can come from the most unlikely places. A13Mando details that the development process of SANCTUARY involved roughly a month's worth of time. The epiphany for the album idea originally came to him whilst watching Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame and realized that his art and work is deeply rooted in creating a sanctuary for listeners if you will. “I reached out to the producers, recorded everything in less than ten hours, mixed and mastered everything while collecting features, and created the final artwork. It was a lightning in a bottle moment and once the bell was struck, I moved. I even locked in to the point that I stopped accepting DJ bookings until the album was done.”
I asked about how he feels about his transition as an artist from his previous project, 2024’s Fund My Escape to now, he shares this:
“The transition felt like: self actualization. I have no need to prove myself to myself or anyone. A13Mando is not a brand or mask I hide behind. It is who I am and musically, I finally stood on that. My sound has layers and flavors, dimensions if you will. And by knowing that my musical talent is a direct gift from God, to limit me to certain shades is doing God a disservice. My music has transitioned to sounding like a complete body of work now.”
A man that has never been afraid to express his spirituality through his art, A13Mando wants fans to have a main takeaway that God loves you! His album Sanctuary isn't just an album or a trend; it's a state of being. “You are your own sanctuary. If there is a time where you will need me, I can become your sanctuary. You are in nobody's hands but God.” For the rest of 2026, A13Mando is priding himself on delivering consistent content and shows. When he’s not in the studio, he’s the lead man on the turntables. He’s been all over the city DJing at three events monthly and his consistency has led him to opportunities to DJing for Isaiah Rashad’s album meet and greet at JB Records and getting his own residency at Edgewood’s Our Bar ATL to host “FOXY ATL”, a dance party featuring sounds of bounce, and hiphop and house. “We are outside all year bringing back hiphop shows, dance parties, even the community outreach programs. We are walking with God and making it look fun in 2026.”
