Ken Frank, Big Super, GMD Jets, Caliph, Benny Brickz & Rellwaves - 6 Figures
“6 Figures” feels like an ode to brotherhood and achieving success within that dynamic. The title works as a double entendre as it’s a nod to there being 6 figures on the record: Ken Frank, Big Super, Caliph, GMD Jets, Benny Brickz, and Rellwaves on production. While also being representative of 6 figures in the sense of dollars.
“I look my n**** in the eyes like I’m tryna get rich n****”
“Name a group of n***** fucking with us. Never fall off, my brother my crutch”
“I wanna see my bros eat, never in competition with my mans”
Just a few lines fired off throughout the record that not only celebrate the camaraderie between the artists, but assure the listener that this is a family affair.
Group records like this can either go one of two ways, but it works out for the best in this instance. It doesn’t sound monotonous nor cluttered. The production has a celestial and futuristic sound that feels as though you would be floating through space in a hovercraft. Additionally, the way the beat loops, times in perfectly with the start of each rappers verse, almost as if it’s a subtle introduction to who’s next.
About halfway through, the bounce picks up in the background and Caliph finds that pocket and delivers with a matching flow letting off one of my favorite lines in the song: “All these blueys in my pocket, got my pants looking Belly. N****, fuck yo politics unless them presidents is deadys.”
Everyone showed up and offered something different to the record; from wit, to flow, to bars. The theme remains consistent throughout every verse: success is sweet but even more so when you’re getting to it with your brothers. “6 Figures” is a smooth listen from top to bottom and a solid representation of what’s current in the New England Hip-Hop scene.
