Shordie Shordie & Murda Beatz - Memory Lane 2 (Mixtape)

Shordie Shordie has become one of my favorites over the past few years, thanks mostly to his 2021 Murda Beatz collab project “Memory Lane”. So imagine my surprise to see that the two linked back up for a sequel. I’ll be honest though, none of Shordie Shordie’s projects have quite recaptured the magic of the original Memory Lane to me. There have been standout singles like “Teresa” & “Counter”, and overall the projects have not been bad. But there’s something about the cohesion of a short, single-producer project that is the perfect way to digest Shordie Shordie’s distinct nasally tone. He’s like a Max B with relationship issues over guitar riffs and that West Coast bounce in most situations (despite being from Baltimore himself). If that sounds like your kind of vibe, I recommend you check out the original Memory Lane, then let us know how this one stacks up to you. See if you don’t catch yourself anticipating his “Ayyyyy ayyyyy” ad lib at the end of every record.
